Infiné, easy music for the hard to please

Our InFiné workshop at "La Carrière du Normandoux" is like an annual family party (without the boring parts). Children are playing and meeting with each others and parents watch them growing year after year.

Nevertheless, the connections between the artists of the workshop are not always the result of chance. On Friday 18^th , the evening features Fredo Viola, Scalde and Arandel. On top of being Agoria latest vocal guests on For one Hour and Solarized, Scalde is also a close vocal contributor of Fredo´s live. If you have been inquisitive enough to check the credits of Arandel debut album “In D”, you are also surely aware that Fredo added his own vocals to In D#6. The line up of night 1 comes thus circle. 

We asked some questions to Arandel about the past edition of our workshop which he was featuring for the first time as a DJ:

Your best souvenir of the 2009 edition?

Last year I composed a mix with only vocal pieces (from Gesualdo to Steve Reich) which were spread with the speakers on the wall of the the quarry. Those voices seemed to emerge from nowhere. The reverb and echoes effects reacting with the physical asset of  the place, made the mix sound like something almost unreal. For me, it was clearly a revelation, for the time I was experimenting the sound of Arandel and approaching something I was searching for. The performance of Pedro Soler and Gaspar Claus was truly amazing. I was like slapped on the face. 

Your feelings about the concept?

The location above all. It's really an incredible place, timeless, absolutely unique. The atmosphere is very singular. Not only because of the location itself. The People who went to the shows, have this kind of curiosity, this desire to be sensitive for something different. Francois Pin succeeded in spreading his thrust for discovery to the audience of the place.  

Current activities?

The album has been released end of June. Now, we are going to “champion” it on stage. We are working on new versions of the tracks at the moment, re-arranging everything. It's very exciting. We will release a trilogy of EPS from september onward, with remixes (Bruno Pronsato, Michael Forzza, nicolas colas, Manvoy de Saint Sadrill, Fraction,...) and with missing variations of the album.
