Cesar Urbina is a man of his word. So when he told me six years ago that he would make a podcast that included the greatest Mexican magic, I knew his mind had become clouded from hearing long techno sets at Watergate club in Berlin. But I never doubted for one second that I wouldn't get the podcast. So here we are, half way through his Indian incursion with We:Mantra and his much anticipated new album, Cesar delivers a pysche-magic mixtape and the 22nd instalment of our podcast series. I have to admit, I did not know what to expect from this musical journey. Maybe, a bit of Mariachi guitar blended with Cumbia rhythms?…

InFiné presents a collection of remixes from Downliners Sekts' latest full-length excursion, Silent Ascent, in the form of a limited edition, hand-stamped white label release.
Featuring robust re-workings from Blondes (RVNG INTL), patten (Warp), Chevel (Stroboscopic Artefacts) and Monomood (Abstract Animal), the grainy techno hue of the original tracks is prodded and pushed further into darker and murkier territory, whilst retaining a sense of the originals' dub-laced calm and poise.

In 2010 a group of writers launched the short-lived music blog Altered Zones. The intention was to chart the small-scale explosion in DIY music brought about by advances in technology that meant access, distribution and home recording of music was more widely available than ever before. Gaps between genres that had previously been hermetically sealed off from each other such as drone, electronic, psych…

Originally recorded in 1979, Bernard Szajner’s concept album Visions of Dune is based around Frank Herbert’s cult Dune Trilogy. A journey in the best sense of the word, this album builds stunning worlds out of grand artistic strokes, with imposing drones and cacophonous percussion colliding to evoke interstellar travel and mysterious life forms. From the prog rock pomp of…

At first glance, Danton Eeprom’s Hex Tape is a slick, slow-paced RnB-infused number with lashings of old-school synths and sexy tomboy vocals, not the sort of stuff you'd expect from the London-based French producer on a normal day.
So how did that happen exactly? It turns out Danton met glamorous vocalist Emma Darling during a NYE karaoke party gone wild; amidst the chaos they duetted on a Bowie song and formed Leave The Boy a soon as they recovered from the night, just for a bit fun. But the duo's novel take on vocal house and electro-inged pop quickly caught the eye of Fat…

French electronic pioneer Bernard Szajner’s 1979 concept album based around Frank Herbert’s cult Dune Trilogy. Dystopian sci-fi drones and otherworldly melodies drift across the stereo spectrum, creating a multi-layered, deeply immersive listening experience. Original and remastered versions have been praised by Dan Snaith, Carl Craig, Optimo, Joakim, Dj Food, Martyn, Prins Thomas, Perc, Miles Whitaker to name just a few.
Remastered from the original tapes by Rashad Becker in Berlin, and with a new sleeve reimagined by acclaimed Barcelona-based designer Arnau Pi (Young Turks, Hivern Discs, DJ Kicks). Includes two lost pieces from the original sessions and never before heard, left off…

Some of you may recognise the moniker from elusive but on point French electronic label Initial Cuts, and a couple of brilliant 12" including remixes by Jus-ed, Miles Whitaker, Brun of Swayzak or Enola.
Pierre is a nomad. His passport may be French but he spent most of his adolescence in Brazil before becoming besotted with London in the 2000’s and making the move. At that time, the British capital…
