Fraction a.k.a. Eric Raynaud belongs to a family of artist that couldn’t be described precisely. In the last decade he’s been producing music with a deep fascination for questioning electronic and avant-guarde music production inside a large variety of unusual formats. Often his work that goes from experimental noise and glitch to cutting edge audio visual, involves skills on granular synthesis, new media coding, and other features that blur the lines between music production and design. His interest focuses in particular on creating intense immersive experiences, large scale piece using physical domain, involving spatial sound in interaction with other media. He created several acclaimed works, among them 'Dromos' in 2013 for MUTEK festival which was then largely spread on the web, and eventually got to be used by Apple in it 30 anniversary clip. In 2014 a grant by the Institut Français in the field of Digital Arts enabled Raynaud to conduct several months research and creation at Societé des Arts Technologique of Montreal on sound immersion and new media interactions. This led to the creation of Entropia, a unique A/V performance involving a led sphere and ambisonics sound that he has started to present in 2015, and that has been featured by Creators Project, DesignBoom and described by XLR8 as 'one of the most breathtaking and interesting presentations we’ve had the pleasure of witnessing in a long time'.
On the music side, his productions first appeared on the Berlin based imprint Shitkatapult before he joined INFINE roadster in 2008
He works as a sound sculptor, experimenting with rhythmic deconstruction, timbral chaos, apparent disorder and processing synthetic and acoustics sources to create coherent sound organization in dimensional perspective.
